Position Summary: The overall purpose of this job is to plan, direct, and evaluate a comprehensive counseling program for Pellissippi State students on all campuses in the areas of career/life planning, academic and personal counseling, and other counseling-related activities

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
30% Supervise the activities of the Counseling staff
20% Coordinate counseling activities with college administrators, faculty, and staff
20% Counsel and advise students individually or in groups
10% Provide crisis intervention and participate on the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT)
10% Direct counseling program planning and assessment
5% Manage the counseling budget
5% Maintain and coordinates information exchange and liaison with appropriate external agencies, educational institutions, and groups

· Master’s degree in Counseling, Mental Health, or Social Work; or a related field
· Licensure in Psychology, Counseling or Clinical Social Work
· Five years post- licensure (required to provide professional supervision for counselors seeking a license)
· Three years’ full-time experience in higher education working with students, adults, and other college administrators
(Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Logical thinking, an understanding of counseling theories, methods, and assessments used in mental health services. Current and relevant continuing education to update knowledge and skills. Proficiency in current college counseling issues, policy, procedures, and ethical practice. Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures, purchasing policies and procedures, micro-computer applications, student information systems, student program assessment and leadership and management skills including supervision of counselors who are seeking mental health licensure. Knowledge of privacy laws like FERPA and HIPPA. Knowledge of Federal and state laws related to counseling and higher education.
Location of Position: Hardin Valley Campus
Pay Rate: $62,810 - $78,950.00/per year. Pay will be determined based on related work experience above required. To be considered in determining pay, all related work experience must be listed on the resume and/or application.
