Title: Director of Veterans Services

Anticipated Closing Date: 9/30/2018

Position Summary: The overall purpose of this job is to plan and direct the college’s support programs for student veterans at Pellissippi State.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities: 

20% Lead strategic planning related to the Veterans Services Office and contribute to the overall strategic planning efforts for the Student Affairs Division and for the College.

20% Establish policies and operating procedures for the Veterans Services Office Veterans Support Center. Make decisions that ensure department is in compliance with Tennessee Board of Regents and college policies and procedures.

20% Develop and manage budgets for supporting student veterans and the Veterans Support Center.  Budgets will include college and grant funds. Ensure that handling of budgets supporting veterans are in compliance with college policy.

 20% Plan, implement, and assess initiatives related to student veteran success. Monitor academic progress of student veterans to ensure they are on-track to graduate. Ensure veterans are connected to existing support structures such as academic advising, counseling, tutoring, TRIO, and Access and Diversity.

10% Report to the College, TBR, THEC, and other agencies on the academic progress and success rates of student veterans at Pellissippi State.

5% Develop alternate funding sources to support student veterans on campus. Represent Pellissippi State at community events targeted to veterans.

5% Represent the Veterans Service Office on college committees. Provide information to Veteran’s groups and services about Pellissippi State’s Veteran’s program.

Required Qualifications:                                                                                                                                                                                      

·  Bachelor’s degree  from an accredited institution

·  Five (5) years’ in higher education, experience with serving Veterans a plus 

(Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:    

Knowledge of issues faced by student veterans. Some knowledge of veterans’ benefits requirements is helpful.      

Location of Position: Hardin Valley Campus

Pay Rate: $47,740 - $59,340.00/per year. Pay will be determined based on related work experience above required. To be considered in determining pay, all related work experience must be listed on the resume and/or application.
