 POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT - RECRUITER

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology – Shelbyville is accepting applications for the full-time position of Recruiter.

The Recruiter position will assist the college in achieving its vision and mission of providing educational opportunities to dual enrollment and adult students through recruiting new students for career and technical programs and providing them the information necessary to navigate the enrollment processes. The recruiter will provide information to high school students regarding dual enrollment opportunities already in place between the college and secondary institutions; to high school students who want to take advantage of the opportunities made available through the Tennessee Promise grant; to adults who want to take advantage of the Tennessee Reconnect grant; and, to non-traditional students wanting to enter the workforce through the programs of study offered at the college.

The position will be located at the Shelbyville Campus and will report to the President.

REQUIREMENTS

 
At minimum, a Technical Diploma in related field from an accredited institution; Associate’s Degree or higher in related field preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience with customer service, recruitment, marketing, or related higher education experiences
Desire to help students achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals
Knowledge of technical education, certifications, and employment opportunities across multiple disciplines of study offered by the institution
Strong customer service skills
Effective oral and written communication skills to accurately convey college information and to effectively present information to large groups and individuals
Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with high schools, colleges, prospective students, faculty, staff and the general public
Ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs; audio/visual equipment and software
Knowledge of maintaining student records and/or sensitive information; knowledge of SIMS and/or Student Banner is a plus
Results orientated with the ability to perform multiple tasks
Understanding of Title VI, Title IX, ADA, and disability services
Knowledge of the importance of student enrollment, completion, placement and licensure requirements
Knowledge of non-traditional training opportunities
Ability to travel a significant amount of time
Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends

JOB DUTIES

Meet with high school counselors and teachers to explain benefits of the college’s program offerings and dual enrollment opportunities across high schools in six counties.
Participate in classroom visits and other special events to explain programs of study to potential students.

Provide information regarding admissions requirements, program benefits, and financial aid guidance to prospective students and parents via phone, mail, and personal interactions.
Recruit and encourage non-traditional student enrollments and will work with non-traditional students to meet specific needs that may otherwise prevent successful completion of the program.
Provide career counseling that increases awareness of skill sets as a determining factor on one's occupational career choice as opposed to selecting an occupational career based on gender stereotypes.
Assist new students with the enrollment process and career options, including continued academic planning, mentoring, and support services, as needed.
Produce follow-up reports regarding activities for assessment and planning purposes.
Work with Student Services staff to coordinate assigned activities with outside agencies and organizations.
Provide multi-campus support during registration, special events (college nights, career fairs, awards presentations, etc.), campus tours, and coordinating open houses.
Utilize college and career websites such as www.CollegeforTN.org, www.bls.gov , etc.
Aid in developing promotional literature and marketing materials in both print and digital formats.
Aid in writing press releases to promote the institution.

SALARY: Commensurate with TBR/Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
